Waltz jump is the first jump any new figure skater should learn. This is a half rotation from one foot to the other. Make sure you are able to do this off the ice before you attempt anything on the ice.
For righties, you want to jump off your left foot and land on your right. This is a forwards to backwards jump.
Some things to work on before you try:
– half jump
– landing position
– swinging your arms with your leg
Once you have the basics down, you’re ready to go ahead and try your waltz jump.
